Gareth Bale is set to sign a new deal at Tottenham after Real Madrid admitted DEFEAT in their bid to sign him.
The
Spanish giants are understood to have been told by Spurs that they will
reject all offers this summer for the Footballer of the Year.
Bale is expected back at the north londoners on Monday for the start of pre-season training.
And chairman Daniel Levy is set to become the toast of Spurs fans after it emerged Real are ready to shelve their interest in the Welshman for 12 months and try again next summer.
They
have been publicly pursuing Bale since April, with No.2 Zinedine Zidane
and president Florentino Perez insisting no amount of money Spurs could
demand would scare them off.
But defiant Levy has steadfastly declared Tottenham have no intention of surrendering Bale to the Bernabeu side.
Real
have backed off because they know that - unlike with their midfielder
Luka Modric, who rocked the boat at White Hart Lane summer until he got
his move to the Spaniards - Bale is much more relaxed.
Despite admitting he misses playing in the CL, former Southampton star Bale has no worries about spending another season in the Europa League.
The Welshman has so far done nothing to force Tottenham’s hand and a transfer request is out of the question.
With
no release clause in Bale’s contract to trigger, Real have come to
terms with the fact that they cannot force Tottenham into a position
where they have to allow the winger to speak to them.
